Rossini: Stabat Mater
Join us April 21st for a performance of Rossini’s Stabat Mater with symphonic chorus, orchestra, and professional soloists.
Considered “one of history’s greatest composers of opera” (Nick Strimple), Rossini set the Stabat Mater to music over a period from 1831-1841. Premiered in 1842, Rossini’s work combines medieval Latin with the trappings of the 19th century opera house (arias, duets, quartets, and choruses) to portray Mary’s utter despair during the crucifixion of Christ.
Led by Dr. Kevin Hibbard, Collegium Vocale joins with the Carroll Symphony Orchestra and the combined choirs of the University of West Georgia to bring Rossini’s masterpiece to life.
Tickets for the Rossini: Stabat Mater can be purchased here or from a member of Collegium Vocale.
