Collegium Vocale is committed to preserving and promoting the choral arts in the greater Atlanta community by performing a secular and sacred repertoire ranging from the early renaissance to modern music, including demanding or seldom-performed works.
Collegium Vocale is the second-oldest community chorus in the Atlanta area, and was organized in 1955 by faculty members of Emory University. Emory continues to support the group through in-kind contributions, including free use of rehearsal space.
Under the direction of Kevin Hibbard, Collegium Vocale continues to delight audiences with a diverse selection of choral works. Accompanist Leanne Herrmann helps the choir prepare for our performances and often performs at the piano or organ.
The group rehearses on Tuesday evenings during the fall and winter and usually performs two concerts each year, in March and November.
Singers within Collegium Vocale are volunteers, and membership is open by audition. An orchestra and soloists frequently accompany us, and solo opportunities exist for members of the ensemble, as well as for area professional singers.
We frequently collaborate and share the stage with other musical organizations, including: Carroll Symphony Orchestra, University of North Georgia, Milton High School, University of Wes tGeorgia, Atlanta Young Singers, Creekview High School, Atlanta Baroque Orchestra, Gwinnett Young Singers, Atlanta Women’s Chorus, Greater Atlanta Girls Choir, Georgia Singers.
Collegium Vocale is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. Tax deductible donations are greatly appreciated. Please contact us if you are interested in making a donation for operating expenses or toward the Collegium Vocale Endowment Fund.
