Executive Board Officers for 2026-2027
President – Pat Uelmen Huey
A native of Washington DC, Pat has lived in the Atlanta area for 25 years and has spent over 10 of those as a member of Collegium Vocale. She started her professional life in Georgia as a research fellow at the Atlanta VA Hospital, taught Upper Learning science at The Galloway School, and is currently an Assistant Professor of Biology, Chemistry, and Biochemistry at Georgia Gwinnett College, where she is an active member of the United Campus Workers of Georgia labor union. Her prior community connections have included serving as the director of the Hightower Trail Cub Scout Summer Day Camp and as the Decatur Service Unit Director for the Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta. Currently she manages Decatur High School softball concessions sales, the proceeds of which benefit the Madison Lewis Softball and Scholarship Fund. In addition to singing with Collegium Vocale, Pat rings with the Tucker First UMC Handbell Choir and practices Star Trek Cruise karaoke on her piano at home.
Executive Vice President – Joe Winter
Joe Winter has been a proud member of Collegium Vocale since 2019 and currently serves as Executive Vice President on the Board. A lifelong choral singer, Joe began performing in high school, where he was selected for the Georgia All-State Chorus for two consecutive years. Since then, he has sung with several notable ensembles, including the Michael O’Neal Singers, Georgia State University Singers, Just Voices, and the DeKalb Choral Guild (now Harmonia Atlanta). Outside of music, Joe leads a team of software engineers at Euna Solutions, a cloud-based solutions provider for the public sector. He brings both his leadership experience and his passion for the arts to his role on the Board.
Vice President (Development) – Cindy Weinbaum
Cindy Weinbaum is a choral music devotee who has been singing with Collegium Vocale since moving to Atlanta 25 years ago. After retiring from a career as medical epidemiologist at the CDC, she enjoys doing pottery and traveling the world (when she isn’t singing).
Vice President (Marketing) – Jacquie Smyth
Jacquie Smyth first sang with Collegium Vocale from 2012 to 2015, took a break, then returned in 2024. She sang in choirs regularly since middle school, so it was only a matter of time before she found her way back to the camaraderie of CV. Jacquie’s other hobbies include community activism and engagement, reading (she makes this her primary personality), and knitting. In her day job, she manages the environmental compliance of a multinational manufacturing company, but has experience in marketing, pricing, and communications. She serves Collegium Vocale as VP of Marketing, bringing her professional experience to the board.
Vice President (Operations) – Matt Cowley
Matt Cowley is a new member of CV and the board, but grew up singing in church and school choirs, teenage rock bands and musical theater in northwest Florida. Since moving to Atlanta to attend Georgia Tech, Matt has been an avid concertgoer of all genres of music. In the past, he contributed visual design and operations for contemporary chamber ensemble Bent Frequency. These days, he leads a UX design team in the enterprise software industry and sings and plays music with his family and friends in Decatur.
Secretary – Beth Buyert
Beth is a native of Atlanta and has lived in Decatur since 1999. She's been singing alto since she was a child in the Atlanta Young Singers and has been with Collegium Vocale since 2009. After several years working in real estate and finance, she became a stay-at-home mom which ushered in a second career in preschool teaching and administration. Beth's previous community service has included Initiative for Affordable Housing, Decatur Performs! and the Atlanta Community Food Bank. In her free time, she enjoys growing flowers, traveling and seeing musicals.
Treasurer – Alan Buchalter
Alan has been a member of Collegium Vocale since 1997. Alan sang in high school in Alabama and also sang in college in New Orleans before moving to Atlanta. He works as a CPA in the tax department of Mohawk Industries. Alan is married with two kids in college and likes to read classic fiction. Fun fact: Alan was Collegium’s president in 2005-2006 until his son was born. Second fun fact: Alan’s wife said no more presidency once the baby was born.
